The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), leader of the Erasmus Plus project Clinical simulation practice-based learning in nursing (CLINICALSIM), has recently met with other European institutions participating in the initiative to agree on how to carry out the different work packages.
The meeting was attended by the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (UNEATLANTICO), the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre (IPP) of Portugal, and the University of Valladolid (UVa) of Spain, the latter as a partner institution.
The kick-off meeting of the project will be held between February 13 and 16 at the Universidade Internacional do Cuanza (International University of Cuanza, UNIC), coinciding with the inauguration of a simulation center at the university. In addition, Dr. Francisco Rodríguez Martín, an expert in emergency medicine from the University of Valladolid, who has collaborated in the acquisition of a simulation dummy to be used at UNIC for this project, is scheduled to visit the center.
This visit will allow the European partners to familiarize themselves with the facilities and equipment and to configure them for use. This will make it easier for the Portuguese team to plan the practical training in the best possible way with greater security and peace of mind.
During the meeting week, partners will be able to learn about the status of the first deliverables completed. IPP, in collaboration with the Universidade José Eduardo dos Santos (José Eduardo dos Santos University, UJES) and the Universidade Internacional do Cuanza (UNIC), has prepared a report on the shared Euro-Angola experiences on practical training processes in nursing. The partners are currently working on a second document to define key practical competencies for nurses in Angola.
CLINICALSIM is a capacity building project targeting higher education institutions in Angola with the objective of improving the practical training of nursing professionals.
The project is aimed especially at nursing students and university professors, clinical simulation confederates, counselors, and managers of higher education in healthcare sciences, healthcare policy makers/public administrations/nursing associations, and the general public (as potential patients).
The project, led by the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (UNEATLANTICO), involves several Angolan institutions: the Universidade José Eduardo dos Santos (José Eduardo dos Santos University, UJES), the Universidade Internacional do Cuanza (UNIC), and the Ordem dos Enfermeiros de Angola (Nurse Association of Angola, ORDENFA). The Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre (IPP) of Portugal is also a partner in the project. The Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) and the University of Valladolid (UVa) in Spain, as well as the Jan Kochanowski University (UJK) of Poland, will work as partner organizations.
