Date Icon April 15, 2026

The Faculty of Health Sciences at the International University of Cuanza (UNIC) organized a joint activity with the José Eduardo dos Santos University (UJES) and the Angolan Nurses Association (ORDENFA), marking an important step in strengthening academic and scientific cooperation in the country.

The initiative focused on conducting a pilot advanced clinical simulation, as part of the international CLINICALSIM project, funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program. The project also involves the participation of UNEATLANTICO and the Institute of Porto, reinforcing collaboration between Angola and leading European institutions in the field of health.

More than just meeting academic goals, the event stood out for its strategic nature. The initiative effectively launched a program of academic and scientific mobility, enabling students and faculty to exchange experiences, knowledge, and practical skills in real-world learning contexts. For Mariano Napoleão, a laboratory technician at UNIC, this initiative represents a significant step forward in inter-university cooperation, aligning with INAAREES’ quality and external evaluation criteria and highlighting UNIC’s commitment to excellence and the internationalization of higher education in Angola.

The pilot program stands as one of the first structured mobility initiatives between national universities in the field of Health Sciences. The initiative has opened doors to new opportunities for training, research, and pedagogical innovation, fostering an academic environment that encourages knowledge sharing and the development of technical skills essential for strengthening the country’s health sector.

During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to take part in practical clinical simulation sessions led by national experts. These sessions allowed for the application of advanced care protocols, the simulation of complex clinical scenarios, and the assessment of technical and interpersonal skills, preparing students for real-world challenges in hospital and community settings.

Beyond its academic impact, the activity played an important symbolic role. It represented a firm step toward building a university culture based on cooperation, scientific rigor, and professional excellence. The event reinforced the importance of integrating theory and practice, emphasizing teaching based on simulated experiences that promote safety, ethics, and quality in healthcare.

The initiative’s success is also due to the dedication of the academic community at UNIC’s Faculty of Health Sciences. Faculty members, researchers, and students actively participated in the organization and implementation of the project, demonstrating dedication and commitment to the continuous improvement of institutional standards. This work has helped position UNIC as a leader, both nationally and internationally, reinforcing the institution’s image as a benchmark in pedagogical innovation and the training of competent and up-to-date health professionals.

In summary, the joint initiative between UNIC, UJES, and ORDENFA goes beyond an academic event: it is a milestone in promoting scientific mobility and international cooperation. The initiative paves the way for future partnerships, exchanges of knowledge, and training experiences that will continue to strengthen health sciences education in Angola, preparing professionals capable of meeting the challenges of a sector essential to the country’s development.
